Yes, $1500 isn't much, but it's a green flag showing me there is potential here.

How I did it

The main strategy is very simple. I just applied to every startup directory I found and added TalkNotes. I didn't even make a list, I just hustled.

Process was:

  1. Find repertories (Google, Twitter and the ones competitors were listed)
  2. Fill out their form (Use ChatGPT to paraphrase the text & avoid duplicate content)
  3. Pay if necessary (Only if domain authority is above 50, else join waitlist)
  4. Rinse & repeat

I also posted on my personal Twitter. I have a good amount of subscribers, for most traffic came from the repertories.

When you're starting out, I think it's the best strategy. Just post anywhere you can show it to a maximum of people and see what happens.

You can get fast traffic from the repertories when they mention you, but it is NOT sustainable:

As you can see, there is an initial spike, but then it drops quickly (like the revenues).

It's very good to test the initial traction (if you post everywhere and make no sales, there is a problem) but has a minimal impact on the long term.

What's next?

Now the goal is to grow the app in a sustainable way. I need to test different channels (Ads, SEO, etc.) and see what works best for me.

I was also able to add lots of features thanks to an automated email I send when users sign up. I just welcome them & ask them how they plan to use the app & how I can improve it.

I got a LOT of answers from it, which allowed me to nail down typical users, and key features to add.

The plan for September is to release the #1 requested feature, add a monthly subscription pricing, and launch on ProductHunt.

Stay tuned!
